Interim Head of school
Anne Swayze has recently been appointed to the position of Interim Head of School for the 2024-2025 School year. During our meetings with her, it was evident to all that Anne is an exceptional independent school leader and educator with over 40 years of experience in the field.
In all of her previous positions she has demonstrated a commitment to creating a warm and supportive school community and building strong relationships with students, faculty, staff, and parents. She values experiential learning, the arts, innovative programs, diversity, and community partnerships. Her educational philosophy is rooted in lifelong learning, multisensory learning styles, and creating a dynamic learning environment and community.
Anne started her career at the Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland, as teacher and Athletic Director. She next joined the faculty at Proctor Academy in Andover, New Hampshire, where she ultimately became the Assistant Head of School and Dean of Students. Anne also served as the Director and Assistant Head of School at the North Country School, Lake Placid, New York. Her most recent position was Head of School at The Greenwood School in Putney, Vermont.
Anne is planning to live locally in Peterborough. She currently lives in South Sutton, New Hampshire, with her partner Robin Asbury and their two children, Hannah Asbury, a recent graduate of the University of Vermont, and Elliot Asbury, a recent graduate of Kearsarge Regional High School who is headed to study at Roger Williams College in August.
